Vol. 6 No. S2 (2023): Special Issue : expert perspectives on the interconnections between immunity, nutrition, gut microbiota, and cognitive development across the life course
The Special Issue of World Nutrition Journal (Volume 6, Supplement 2, May 2023) brings together a focused collection of research and expert perspectives on the interconnections between immunity, nutrition, gut microbiota, and cognitive development across the life course. This supplement highlights multidisciplinary insights into how nutritional factors and immune function influence brain health, the gut–brain axis, and developmental outcomes, with implications for both clinical practice and community engagement. Key contributions include expert opinions on the role of nutrition in supporting immunity and cognitive functions, evidence on the importance of gut microbiota for immune system performance, narrative reviews of the gut–brain axis in relation to nutritional status and cognitive function, and practical considerations for cognitive indicators relevant to parents and caregivers in community settings.
We gratefully acknowledge Dr. Diana Sunardi, MGizi, SpGK as the Guest Editor for this Special Issue. Under her editorial leadership, this supplement advances scientific understanding at the intersection of nutrition, immunity, and cognition — reinforcing the World Nutrition Journal’s mission to disseminate high-quality, multidisciplinary nutrition research
